Conferences opening on Alonday may have consequences that will be felt throughout the world and contribute toward a settlement of Europe’s problems.
The Young Plan Consultative Committee to inquire into the capacity of Germany to pay reparations will as•semblo at Basle. At the same time the committee of bankers on frozen German credits will'meet at Berlin. The proceedings are expected to be protracted, and the reports will not be ready for the conference of international statesmen before February.
