LOSS OF KOTITI
SEAMEN’S UNION WANTS INQUIRY
Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON, Dec. o. Regarding the loss of the Kotiti in October, the following resolution was passed at a meeting of the Jederated Seamen’s Union this week, attended by over 300 members: “This meeting considers that the signed statements o AY 7 . Mclntvre and J. Gosse, that the Kotiti had engine trouble and was leaking on the last voyage from Wellington to YCestport, further justifies the claim of the union in requesting the Minister of Marine to hold an inquiry into the loss in the interests of uie relatives of the men who lost their lives in the wreck, and the taking of precautionary measures against further needless loss of life at sea. AVe again appeal to the Minister of Marine to hold an inquiry into the loss of the vessel.”
The men referred to worked their passage from Wellington to Westport on the vessel’s last voyage to Westport and then left the ship.
