DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent). BULLS, Dee. 4. Following were the scores registered on the Bulls range on Wednesday afternoon: —309 yards: T. Pritchard, 28; S. Hodges, 28; W. Tarrant, 27; C. Haycock, 27; B. Meads, 23. 500 yards: S. Hodges, 33; W. Tarrant, 33: T. Pritchard, 31; C. Haycock, 31; B, Meads. 29. CRICKET. The Bulls team to play Marton Junction at Bulls during the week-end will be selected from the following:—Anderson. Young, Prichard, O'Connell. Sadler. Reeve? Wilson, Sharp, Cole, Meads, F. Stevens and Last-Harris. Tho following week-end match will bo between Bulls and Terraco, End, at Palmerston North. THE ELECTIONS.

Not a great deal of interest waß taken in the local election. Polling was not a* heavy as usual, but a feature was the number who recorded their votes in the forenoon, the booths being very quiet after that hour. The deputy returning officer, Mr C. M. Broughton, and his staff had everything running smoothly, and the result of the local voting was announced within half an hour of the closing of the poll. PERSONAL.

Mrs G. Hamish Wilson, of "Burleigh,” Bulls, who was badly bruised when Mr Wilson’s car met with a mishap on the Foxton Road early in the week, is reported to be progressing very favourably. Mr John Stevenson, who is spending a few weeks at Paraparaumu, is said to be greatly improved in health. Mrs Stevenson and Mrs F. A. Holland are also at Paraparaumu. Mrs Alex. McGregor is visiting Wanganui. Mr G. G. Goebel, who recently visited an eye specialist in Wellington, has returned homo, but his eye trouble is very little improved. Mr and Mrs McSkimming, erstwhile Bulls residents, but now residing near Whangarei, are visiting relatives here. Miss Eileen. Howell ana Miss Nola Wright, who were the guests of Mrs J. Larmer, have returned to Te Fohuo, Hawko’s Bay.
