FEDERAL ELECTION

LESSON OF THE PAST.

“NECESSITY FOR CHANGE.”

MR STANLEY BRUCE’S VIEWS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 4, 11.0 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 3. “Air E. G. Theodore’s policy speech is the best evidence of the necessity for a change of Government,” declared Mr Stanley Bruce, former Prime Minister, to-day. Fortunately, the Senate had prevented Mr Theodore giving effect to liis dangerous, wild schemes with regard to currency and banking. “Australia has weathered the greatest storm in her history,” stated Mr Bruce, “but all she has accomplished will be dissipated if Mr Theodore is returned.” With a Government led by Mr J. A. Lyons, progressive improvement would continue, but if Mr J. H. Scullin were reinstated, combined with Mr Theodore’s financial policy, the growing confidence w'ould be destroyed, the currency depreciated and the purchasing power of wages reduced. Disaster would overwhelm the people, notably the wording class.
