COST OF LIVING.
NEW BATTLE IN GERMANY. Reduction of wages and salaries simultaneously with, the cost of living, to prevent an intolerable shrinkage of purchasing power, is one of the main conclusions of the Economic Court, formed to guide the German Government in drafting; fresh emergency decrees. The Court has decided that public utilities should reduce their charges and that rents should come down.
It rejected inflation and urged the clearing up of reparations and private debt problems. The trade unions oppose the decisions, fearing that tne cost of living will not bo sufficiently reduced, or a revival of trade sufficiently assisted.
