A very successful garden party under the auspices of the ladies of the Presbyterian Church was held on the property of Mr and Mrs A. F. Stevenson, Park Street, on Tuesday afternoon, in perfect •weather. .During the afternoon much appreciated vocal items were contributed by Mesdames Cronquest (Shannon) and S. Barber. Good business was transacted at the stalls which were in charge of the following ladies: —Work stall, Mesdames Parkes, S. Easton, and Misses J. Ross and Speirs; cake stall, Mesdames Alex. Ross, Barron and Mias Stevenson; sweets, Misses B. Speirs and Sewell; produce, Mesdames McEwen and Satherley; competitions. Mrs Perreau; tea, Mesdames Heath, Jno. Ross and Miss Stevenson; gate steward, Miss Littlejohn. Competitions were won as follow ; Golf, Mrs Marks (Shannon); croquet, Mrs" S. Easton; quoits, Mr Linklater. During the month of November rain fell locally on 8 days, a total of 2.79 inches being recorded. The maximum fall was 1.12 in. on the second. The hottest days were the 13th and 14th with a temperature of 68 degrees and the coldest day the sth with 53 degrees. The vital statistics for Foxton for the month of Novemebr, with the corresponding period of last year in parentheses, are as followßirths 9 (6); deaths, nil (1) j marriages nil (1). Maori births, nil i2J; deaths, nil (nil).
