OROUA DOWNS
(From Our Own Correspondent). OROUA DOWNS, Dec. 2. The fourth evening of the card tournament took place at the school on Tuesday evening and proved as popular as ever and was well attended. Next week the final evening of the season will be held and a good time is assured. In the 500 Mr John Uoiilon, junr., and Mrs Gardner were first, consolation prizes going to Mrs Millard and Mr S. Shailer. In the euchre Miss M. Scott and Mr H. Millard were first and Miss Millard and Mr K. Cotton receiving consolation prizes. Following the usual dainty supper provided by the ladies of the school committee, Miss McKenzie provided excellent music for the dances which were enjoyed by the young people before leaving for home. Mr 0. Berg was in charge of the evening’s proceedings. By holding these evenings the school funds have been considerably augmented and on the final night it is to be hoped that a record attendance to assist the funds will be forthcoming, and an enjoyable evening will be spent.
