There is a five-shilling bicycle tax in Uganda, which brings the Government of that British Protectorate about £16,500 a year. Every native who can afford a cycle rides one. The biggest tree in the world is the sequoia, or Big Tree of California. It grows at elevations of 4500 ft or more above sea-level, and sometimes attains a height of over 300 ft, with a circumference at the base of the trunk of- 100 ft.
