LABOUR DAY TOURNAMENT. CITY CLUBS’ MATCHES. Favoured by good weather conditions city bowlers celebrated Labour Day in an enjoyable manner, each club conducting a progressive pairs tournament. In every case the greens were in splendid condition and were conducive to good bowling. The games were well contested and in a number of cases play-offs were necessary. Detailed results are as follow : PALMERSTON NORTH CLUB.

Paton and Wimsett won the skips’ and leads’ sections respectively in a plav-off, beating W. Child and Law. Skips.—Paton, W. Child, Kerslake, Barv, 4 wins; Bayliss, J. Child, Skoglund, Ross, Morris, 3 wins; Mowlem, Giorgi, 2 wins; Gooding, 1 win. Leads. —Wimsett, Law, 5 wins; Frew, Mitchell, 4 wins: Proctor, Hine, McCulloch, 3 wins; Coleman Schwass, Croucher, 2 wins; Deem, Spencer, 1 win. There were five games placed. MANAWATU CLUB. Radford and Penketh were the winners of the skips’ and leads’ sections. Skips. —Radford, 4$ wins; Barnes, 4 wins; Olney, 3j wins; Kennedy, 2 wins; Corbridge, i win; Gerrand, no wins.
