AMERICAN ATHLETES’ TOUR.

VISITORS’ ATTITUDE. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Aug. 19. Regret was expressed by the treasurer (Mr C. K. Heaton) at a meeting of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association at the remarks made by the American athletes (Harlow Rotliert, George Simpson and Rufus Kiser) on their return to the United States from New Zealand. Air lleaton said that it was not very fitting of the American athletes to criticise tho various centres, which had done their best to entertain them while they were in New Zealand. If they had any complaints to make they should have made them while they were in New Zealand. He was sorry that the visitors had taken up the attitude they had. If there were any ill-feeling or rivalry between the centres that was the business of those concerned and not of the Americans, who were the guests of the centre. He was verv surprised to learn that the Americans had ventilated their grievances when they returned home, and he moved that a letter he sent to the New Zealand council expressing regret at the attitude adopted by the Americans. The motion was carried.

The complaints of the American athletes concerned were received by the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association from its representative in the United States, Mr C. G. Krogness, and were dealt with by the association at its last meeting.
