WEATHER IN ENGLAND.
EXTENSIVE DAMAGE CAUSED. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Aug. 19. The heavy gales around tire English coasts did great damage yesterday. Beach equipment was wrecked at a large number of seaside resorts. The Sussex coast was swept by heavy seas and at Winchelsea beach, buildings were flooded and wrecked. The low-lying area was threatened with extensive inundation, but the wind and seas abated before high tide early this morning. Great damage was done to the promenade in course of construction at Fleetwood.
At Barmou'/h, where tire new sea defences were partially completed, the damage is estimated at £3OOO. Heavy rain fell again yesterday in many parts of the country, causing floods and landslides in the North of England, while in Scotland and Wales there are many acres flooded
