GRAF ZEPPELIN.
CRAFT IN ENGLAND. CRUISE OF BRITISH ISLES CURTAILED. (British Official Wireless.) Received August 20, 8.5 a.m. RUGBY, Aug. 18. The German airship Graf Zeppelin, commanded by Dr Eckener, flew to England from Friedrichshaven to-day. The airship crossed the Channel in the late afternoon and, after visiting several south coast resorts, headed for London, over which it cruised for nearly an hour before landing at Hanworth to disembark passengers, a party of over 20, including the Master of Sempill and Colonel Shelmerdine. The Director of Civil Aviation then boarded the airship for a 24 hours’ cruise round the British Isles. Bad weather, however, caused the Zeppelin to return direct to Newcastle from Belfast, cutting out the Scottish flight.
