HOCKEY ON SKATES.

RINK TEAM SUCCESSFUL. The De Luxe rink hockey team successfullv withstood a challenge from the “Bing Boys,” a local combination, last night after an interesting and fast display, the scores being five goals to one. The teams were as follow : Rink (blue and gold).—lt. Hoare, C. Gordon, A. J. Craighead, V. L. Absalom (captain) and H. R. Roos. Bing Boys (white). —L. Martin, E. V. West, J. Lewis, R. Burt and A. Steere (captain) ; Messrs It. L. C. Aitcliison and A. E. Blackbourn officiated as referees.

The challengers entered upon their activities in a promising manner and for the greater portion of the game actually proved to be the more aggressive. The Rink quintette were the first to find the net, but the goal was disallowed The Bing Boys replied with a shot by Lewis, but the direction was slightly astray. Following upon a period of fast play Burt broke away to net for Bing Boys and the challengers led by one goal to nil at the interval. Absalom, who had been playing brilliantly for the Rink team, equalised early in the second spell and within 10 minutes lie had rattled on five goals to give his side a well defined margin at the finish. A Wellington representative team will’ take the floor on Saturday evening, while on the following 'Wednesday the Rink team will be called on to repel a challenge for the trophy from the United Club.
