CONDITIONS IN FRANKLIN DISTRICT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. 19. The Health Department’s inspector is of the opinion that 75 per cent, of the Maoris in the Franklin district have tuberculosis owing to the conditions under which they are living, said Mr Parvin, the Franklin representative, at an Auckland Hospital Board meeting. He added that the living conditions of the Franklin Maoris were equally as bad as those at Mangere (reported yesterday). In one shed, Bft. by 10ft., built of kerosene cases, eight persons were living. They pay a rent of 2s 6d.
