CHARGES DISMISSED.

Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Aug. 19. Chnrges of conducting a lottery by means of an advertising leaflet dropped from an aeroplane entitling the finders of signed copies to free rides in the ’plane wero made against George Alfred Nicliolls, an officer of the Gisborne Air Transport Company, and Robert James Kerridge, a picture theatre manager, in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. The case against the former was dis. missed because proof was lacking that any unsigned copies were distributed, while the charge against Kerridge, held technically to bo proved, was also dismissed under the Justices of tho Peace Act, in view of the surrounding circumstances. The Magistrate, Mr Harper, commented that he was satisfied defendants believed the scheme did not constitute a breach of tho Gaming Act and that some effort had been made to avoid a breach.
