HYDRO-ELECTRIC PROJECT.
INQUIRY COMMITTEE’S REPORT. OTTAWA, July 28. In presenting its report to the House of Commons, tlie Committee of Inquiry into the Beauhamois 75,000,000 dollar hydro-electric power project recommends Parliament to take such action as is within its power to procure the development of the Beauharnois project. the committee declares that the actions of the Senator who held an interest in the Beauharnois syndicate “cannot be too strongly condemned” for “letting private interest interfere with his public duties.” Two other Senators are criticised for their acceptance of party funds and other actions. The committee asserts that the firm’s vice-president and general manager is not a fit person to continue in its management, and states that the company’s money squandered on campaign funds, should be returned.
