SUICIDE OF SUSPECT.
ADELAIDE, July 23. Detectives detained Lawrence Edson. aged 28, a tram conductor and former policeman, telling him that they were going to dig up his garden in consequence of the reported disappearance of his wife. While the digging was proceeding Edson whipped out an automatic pistol and shot nimself dead. Detectives discovered Mrs Edson’s body clothed in a print dress and enclosed in a tarpaulin nine inches underground with a concrete covering. The body was buried in a shed in the backyard. The husband, according to the police, was engaged to another young woman.
