RUGBY FOOTBALL.
WANGANUI v. WAIKATO. Per Press Association. TAIHAPE, July 23. The Wanganui versus Waikato representative ltugby match was played to-day on a soft ground, with a treacherous wind. Waikato prevailed owing to superior combination and fitness by 14 points to 8, which was a j fair indicatipn of the merits of the teams. Wanganui secured from most of the scrums, thanks to the superb hooking of Charles and Tasker, but Waikato played close up, and sound tackling frustrated many promising movements, Denz, the Waikato half, played a sterling game, supported by Carlson,- Fitzgerald and Faucett, and a balanced pack. Enson, Cameron, and Storey were prominent for Wanganui, who were ably captained by Moke Beiliss, who proved that lie is still a man to be reckoned with. Narbey, the full back, was almost faultless, while Downes, Hall and Collier wero also outstanding.
