FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

The fortnightly meeting of Court Manawatu, A.0.F., No. 5655, was held in the Foresters’ Hall. There was a good attendance of members, including visiting members from various courts, over whom C.R. Bro. T. Bradley presided. D.J.B. Bro. C. Edwards reported on business transacted at the district meeting held recently. Bro. W. Edwards reported on a bowls match against Acorn Lodge, stating Court Manawatu won by a fair margin. At the conclusion of the meeting a shield match for indoor bowls was played between H.A.C.B.S. and Court Manawatu. The game, which proved to be a very exciting one, resulted in a win for Court Manawatu by a good margin. The players were as follow: H.A.C.B.S. (Bros. C. Purcell, E. Norris, M. Hyland, M. Rosanowski, skip); Court M,anawatu (Bros. Pearcey, W. Hancock, G. Hancock, C. Edwards, skip.)
