GENERAL FORECAST. A slight anti-cyclone crossed the Dominion yesterday. A cyclone is moving across the northern Tasman Sea, and a westerly depression is situated over south-eastern Australia. Winds becoming northerly and freshening gradually. Seas moderate generally in New Zealand waters. Freshening north-east to north Yvinds in the eastern Tasman Sea; seas moderate, but rising in the northern portion. Weather fair, mild and hazy generally at first, hut gradually becoming cloudy and misty; rain setting in soon in the far north and later extending southYvard. DISTRICT REPORT. DULL CONDITIONS. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for variable and strong breezes, south easterly moderate to strong prevailing. Expect dull weather, Yvith much mist and fog in parts. Rain is probable later. The barometer is falling. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon. —4it.
