EUROPE’S DEBTS
DRASTIC SCALING DOWN.
MOVEMENT FOR ECONOMIC CONFERENCE.
CONSULTATIONS AT WASHINGTON
(United Press Association.—By Electric T elegraph.—Copyright.) Received July 6, 8.30 a.m. WASHINGTON, July 4.
From consultations going on here among the Embassies, it is reported that President Hoover’s moratorium plan is only the beginning of a drive in Europe for a drastic scaling down of Eui-ope’s debts and their eventual cancellation.
As soon as possible after the Hoover plan is agreed to, there will be a movement for a European Economic Coji-fex-ence, at which the xvliole financial and economic situation in the light of international debts will be considered.
Britain, who is believed to be at the head of this movement, will demand a drastic i-eduction of arniameixts, which if it is successful, will save European Powers £200,000,000 per annum.
