LATE MR C. A. E. FERGUSON.

FUNERAL YESTERDAY AFTER-

NOON

Numerous friends and relatives of the late Mr C. A. E. Ferguson of Lyndhurst Street, paid their final tributes yesterday afternoon. when a lengthy funeral cortege followed the casket to the Ashhurst cemetery after a service at the residence. Deceased was interred at his express wish alongside his little grandson, who was a victim of the sad drowning fatality which occurred at Ivomako last year. Rev. J. D. McArthur conducted the service at the house, and Mr N. West played Handel’s “Largo,” while the room was a veritable bower of floral tributes. The service at the graveside was also performed by Mr McArthur. The pall bearers were Messrs A. Withers (Makino), P. Ingley (Patea), E. Hurley (Wellington), A. Spooner (Palmerston North), G. Campbell (Palmerston North) and C. Bhncoe (Palmerston North). Many, beautiful wreaths were received from relatives and friends in Palmerston North and other parts of New Zealand, while telegrams of sympathy were forwarded to the bereaved family from all parts of the Dominion. Mr C. F. Spooner represented the president of the New Zealand Croquet Council at the funeral.

The wreaths included those from Messrs Adam Burges and staff; the Ford Motors (Manawatu), Ltd. staff; the manager and staff of the Bank of New South Wales; the Y.W.C.A. Board the staff of Y.W.C.A. (Wellington); members of the W.C.TIU.; Willard Home Board; New Zealand Croquet Council; Manawatu Croquet Association; Terrace End, Northern, Manawatu and Takaro Bowling and Croquet Clubs; Cuba Street Methodist Church; Cuba Street Methodist Ladies’ Guild; Longburn Methodist Ladies’ Guild; Methodist Women’s Missionary Auxiliary ; and Cuba Street Methodist Senior Bible Class, G. H. Bennett and Sons and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A.

During the morning service at the Cuba Street Methodist Church yesterday Rev. J. D. McArthur made feeling reference to the passing of Mr C. A. E. Ferguson, who was a valued member of the congregation. The congi-egation stood in silence as a mark of sympathy with the late Mr Ferguson’s family and relatives.
