CONVENT BAZAAR.
TO-NIGHT’S FINAL EFFORT,
COMPETITION ANNOUNCEMENTS,
Very satisfactory business was recorded yesterday afternoon and evening at the Convent of Mercy bazaar, patrons who braved the cold conditions proving very free purchasers. Preparations are in train for to-night’s final effort when the remainder of the which have proved a very attractive feature of the bazaar, will be decided. It is anticipated that the old Convent in Broadway will be thronged to overflowing to-night and a great effort thus brought to a fittingly successful conclusion. At last night’s gathering the following competition results were announced, the stalls concerned being shown in parentheses : —Nightdress (tea rooms), Miss M. Daly, Wellington, 12,944; cigars (produce stall), Mr Jacobs, 9406; tray cloth (fancy stall), Mrs Hughes; ham (novelty stall), Mrs J. Hodgens, 23; tea cloth (novelty stall), Miss Oakley, 38; rooster (produce), Mrs E. J. Spelman, 30; jug cover (produce), Miss Mary Crawford, 7;.throw over (jumble), Mrs McEvedy, Linton, 13,514; sucking pig. Mrs McBrearty; tea cosy, Mrs Wycherley; cake No. 1 (flower), W. Cottier, 5619; cake No. 2 (flower), Mrs Jacobs, Wairoa, 336; box of chocolates (Persian garden), Mrs McEvedy, Linton, 12,668; dresing gown, J. Hickey, 7367; box of stationery (produce), Mis.s E. Burton; ham (tea rooms), “Robbie,,” 8181.
