PAHIATUA, April 19. Miss S. Ross, of St. Albans, Christchurch, is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs J. T. Ross, Mangahao. The engagement is announced of Alary, daughter of Air and Airs J. Hintz, of Alntamata, to Hector, only son of Air and Airs G. F. Gelderd, Tararua Street, Pahiatua.

At the monthly meeting of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild Mrs E. E. Etz and Mrs Kano were the hostesses. Mrs Fairweather presided over a good attendance of ladies. Further arrangements were made for the annual bazaar. A dainty afternoon tea was handed round by the hostesses. An interesting cake competition was won by airs O’Sullivan. The vicar (Rev. G. V. Gerard) presided over the annual meeting of the Anglican Guild. The report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. Tho statement of accounts showed that receipts totalled £239 12s sd, of which sum £BO had been handed to the vestry, £lO had been voted to the missionary funds, £25 to Sunday school repairs, and £26 16s to the church renovation fund. After paying various small accounts, thero was left a credit balance of £33. The guild ha's a membership of 38 The chairman warmly congratulated the members on the very successful year’s work. Officers were elected as follow: — President, Mrs Gerard; treasurer, Mrs F. Burrell; secretary, Airs O’Stvke; vice-pre-sidents, Mesdames J. D. C. G’rewo, Dean, Dempsey, Cittadini, G. G. Taylor and Hamilton, senr. Jt was decided to hold 60eials this year on the same lines as hitherto. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs I. M. Graham for her kindness in supplying the pianoforte music at tho socials. Mrs Hutton, Mrs Burrell and Mrs Staples were deputed to purchase materials and cut out same. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs G. Turner for her donation of tea and sugar. With deep regret, the resignation was accepted of Mrs Perkins, a valued member, who is leaving the district.
