POPPY DAY SALES.
VERY SATISFACTORY RESULT. The Poppy Day sales made in Palmerston North on Saturday amounted to £2ll 6s 2d, which is considered very satisfactory. Last year sales and donations totalled £222 9s 8d and it is anticipated that this figure will be reached again when further contributions come to hand. Sixty ladies and unemployed returned soldiers, also 30 Boy Scouts, conducted an energetic canvass of the business and residential areas. The funds received are devoted to the relief of distress among ex-servicemen and their families, also the provision of employment.
