PROGRESS OF CONFERENCE. WELLINGTON, April 18. Officers’ councils were conducted all day westerday by Commissioner Cunningham in the Vivian Street Citadel, where the Salvation Army Congress is in progress. A message from General Higgins, conveying iiis affection for and interest in New Zealand Salvationnlists, and expressing his hopes for the further advance of the Army’s work in the Dominion, was received with acclamation, and a reply was dispatched. Addresses were made to the officers by Colonel Taylor," the chief secretary, and Lieut.-Colonel Burton, the field secretary, and some papers bearing on various aspects of the Army’s officer’s work were read by Brigadier Walls, Brigadier Imrie, Adjutant Green, Ensign Bridge and Captain Thompson. Reference was made to. three officers who have passed away since the last congress, namely, Lieut-Colonel Gunn, Staff-Captain Broughton and Mrs Commandant Parsons, and prayer was offered by Lieut-Colonel Burton. Commissioner Cunningham gave a review of recent events in London and their bearing on the future of the organisation. The Congress Holiness Council took place at night, and was attended by a large crowd. Speakers who addressed the council were Ensign Bridge, Mrs Brigadier Green and Commissioner Cunningham.
