CRICKET. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Jan. 3. A week-end cricket match will be played at Bulls between Milson Club, of Palmerston North, and Bulls Club. The latter will be represented by the following: IS. Wilson, H. Wilson, It. Young, T. Prichard, D. O’Connell, H. Lunn, Gallagher, Elliott, Cooper, Goodall, Campbell and Flower. Play will commence at 10.30 a.m. GENERAL. Now Year celebrations were carried out in good style here, attracting a good number o( visitors and proving very entertaining “Father Time” appeared, on the eve ot the New Year, and by means of a ’radio-funnyphone” put across a number of local "hits,” which caused great amusement The band played selections, and a number of Parewanui Maoris provided hakas and native songs The streets were bright with coloured electric globes, and, for the time being, everybody appeared to forget tho low prices ruling tor butter, cheese and wool Mr “Sandy” Duncum met with another accident on New Year’s Eve, slipping and falling on tho kerbing of one of the town footpaths. He was assisted to his homo, and medical aid secured, it being ascertained that he had met with an injury to his back. The unfortunate young man who was removed to the Palmerston North Hospital the following morning is reported to be progressing as well as can be expected.. A few months ago Mr Duncum hurt his spine while playing football in Napier, and he -was an inmate of Napier Hospital for some time.

The Marton races attracted a good number of local sports on Thursday and again on Friday, while others went to the beaches and to the river The Wolf Cubs went into camp on New Year’s Day, and the little fellows are reported to be having a most enjoyable time. The weather has been perfect for picnicking, but many bathers are suffering from sunburn.
