DAFFODIL DAY.
TECHNICAL PUPILS VEND SPRING FLOAVERS.
The Palmerston North Technical school held its annual daffodil day today when the business and residential areas were canvassed by approximately one hundred boys and girls. The residential portion of the city was divided into four blocks for efficient distribution of flowers. Daffodils were most prominent, but freesias, daphne and other varieties of spring blooms were offered for sale. A stall at the corner of Broadway and the Square served as a depot for the pupils, who visited the business houses. The ladies in charge reported a splendid response and as quickly as the beautiful blooms arrived, the girls returned for fresh trayfulls. A stall with cakes and dainties also did a good business. The ladies, under whose management the stalls were so successful, were Mesdames M. Aitchison, J. R. Hardie, W.- Watters and Miss M. rinlnuhoun (flowers), and Mesdames G G. Hancox, AV. AValker, Beattie and Miss W. Mardon (cakes). The teaching staff, under Mr G. G. Hancox director, worked splendidly as managing and organising committee and to them much credit is due. The proceeds from to-day’s sales are to be devoted to improvements to the school playing areas.
