PLUNKET SOCIETY.
MEETING OE COMMITTEE. The monthly committee meeting of the local branch of the Piunket Society was held in the City Council office yesterday afternoon. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs A. Coombs (president), Mrs J. Mounsey, Mrs Miller, Mrs Murray, Mrs Watson, Mrs Langley, Mrs Whyte, Mrs Grigor and Miss iVlcLagan. Mrs L. A. Abraham was elected to the chaw in the absence of Mrs Coombs. Others present were Mrs Eairbrother, Mrs Bennett, Mrs llodgers, Mrs Small, Mrs Mansford, Mrs Peren, Mrs Sinclair, Mrs Collinson, Mrs >Free, Mrs Wilson and Mrs Aitchison (secretary). Correspondence was received from the administrative secretary at headquarters advising that, as a result of a deputation and protests by members- of Parliament, the Government had made provision in the Estimates for subsidies to Piunket nurses for the current year. A letter from the A. and P. Association regretting that they could not instal hot points as requested by the society in the Piunket r.oom on the Showground, owing to the serious lowering of the receipts, was received. A motion that the nurses be asked to arrange their lunch hours so that all thei nurses would not be absent at the one time, was carried. The'nurse’s report for the month was as follows: —-Number of visits to homes, 272; number of visits to office (adults .<748, babies 566, older children 187) 1501; number of new cases, 31; registration letters and cards posted, 43; letters received and answered, 12. ! Parcels of clothing were received • from Mesdames Adcock, "McCook Andrews, Somerville, Helling, Bramley. Penny, and Miss McLagan. Mr Arlidge and Mr Joe Kwong Lee had donated vegetables. The number of visits to Foxton was 4; number of visits to homes, 1; number of visits to office (adults 50, babies 39, older children 18) 107; number of new cases, 3. Sales for the month amounted to £39 16s 9d, donations (Mrs Bigham 6s, Mrs Dalziel 7s 6d, Mrs Beattie 7s 6d, Mrs Thomas 7s 6d, anonymous £1), totalled £2 7s. 6d;. membership fees reecived . 10s and 9p lOd was collected in the
box, making a total of £43 3s Id. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Delegates for the forthcoming biennial general conference * of- the Plunket Society, to be held in Wellington from November 18 to 22, were appointed as follow: Mrs A. Coombs, Mrs M. Aitchison, Mrs H. B. Free and Mrs L. H. Collinson.
