MANAWATU SPRING SHOW

i NOVEMBER ATTRACTION. The 45th annual Metropolitan Spring Show of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association will bo held at Palmerston North on sth., 6th., and 7th November next, and in spite of sundry' drawbacks such as increasod taxation, and lower market values, etc., tho show promises to bo as good, if not better than ever. Tho schedule has undergone a complete revision from cover to cover, and certain contentious clauses removed. Among these are tho clauses relating to “No competition, only half prize money,” which has been deleted from all stock sections, and that by which horses that havo been in training within tho previous threo months wero barred from hack classes. This latter has also boon deleted and has made all tho hack classes open ovents. Ladies are now allowed to ride in all jumping events, including tho open steeplechase, maiden hunters' competition, and champion jump. This places the ladies on a level with the men ill tho sliow ring, and should evoke keen competition. A class for calf rearing under Calf Clubs’ conditions has been instituted this year, and juniors aro also catered for in the class for tho best bacon pig, competitors in which class must bo under eighteen years of age. This latter class is limited to children or employees of members of the ManawatuOroua branch of the New Zealand Pig Breeders' Association, but nevertheless a large number of entries aro promised for the event. A- special class for novices -has been instituted in the Jersey section, while in the same section the class for the group of Jerseys has been amended, making the conditions more simple. On the first day of the show the steer riding competition will again be held, and the innovation proving a huge success last year augurs well for its success this year. Tho annual exhibition of the Manawatu Kennel Club will be held in conjunction with , the Church Street. The Spiling Show schedule being available from Mr J. H. McDowell, Church Stret.
