Difficulties experienced by a farmer in trying to obtain farm help wore related m a tetter received bv the council of _ the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. Considerable amusement was occasioned when the letter was read to members by the president, Mr M. St fheWriter stated: “I was glad , to see that you recently protested against fut l ieli wages paid to relief workers bv the Government and it .is certainly acainst the farmer obtaining help. I have been seeking durmg the past two months for a married couple for milLitoc but the wages asked are out of nlf’reason with the present low prices butter-fat. Some of the applicants of butter much as the cows are likeiy and one even wanted me P over ICO miles to see him.
