FIRE IN CANADA.
- HUGE DAMAGE IN VILLAGE. OVER ONE HUNDRED FAMILIES HOMELESS. Received August 14, 11.15 a.m. OTTAWA, Aug. 13. A message from Masson (Quebec) states: “A fire on Wednesday afternoon destroyed fifty buildings in this small village. There are 150 families homeless. The damage is estimated at 250,000 dollars. _ One woman died of heart failure owing to the excitement. Two children , are missing, but it is believed that they are safe. “The buildings destroyed include the Roman Catholic church, the convent, town hall and school.”
