MISS MARIE NEY.
NOTED ACTRESS MARRIED. LONDON, Aug. 12. Miss Marie Ney, of Wellington, New Zealand, who is at present playing the role of Milady in the musical version of “The Three Musketeers,” at Drury Lane Theatre, was married to-day to Mr T. Menzies, a rubber planter in the Malay. . Mr Menzies, who was born in Scotland, won the Singapore Gold Cup, in 1926, with a horse named after Miss Ney. Miss Marie Ney (Fix) lias had a most successful career on the London stage. She is considered to be one of the foremost actresses in Britain. Miss Ney appeared in Palmerston North some years ago as leading lady for Alan Wilkie, and later with the Mane Tempest company, when she played minor roles.
Miss Ney first came into prominence in London in Shakespearean roles, but later she joined Sir Nigel Playfair’s company and appeared, at the Lyric». Theatre, Hammersmith, under liis management. Many of her finest performances have been in old English comedies, including “She Stoops to Conquer” and “The Beaux Stratagem.” She also jilayed lead in .a ■Shakespearean company which appeared for a season in Cairo at the request of the King of Egypt. At present Miss Ney is mailing her first appearance in musical productions as Milady in “Ihe Three Musketeers.”
