PERSONAL.
The friends of Mr H. Holbrook, of Lombard Street, Palmerston North, will regret to hear of the death of his wife, which occurred at the Palmerston North Hospital on Saturday after a lengthy illness. The deceased lady had been a resident of Palmerston North for many years and was highly respected by a wide circle of friends. Tho funeral took place this afternoon at the Kelvin Grove cemetery.
It was reported to the Palmerston North Hospital Board to-day that Nurses lwikau, Martin, Rhodes, Taylor, Moy, Thurston, Baigent and Walter had passed the State examination held on J une 5 and 6.
Reference to the death of Sir Robert Stout, former Chief Justice of New Zealand, was made at the Palmerston North Rotary Club’s luncheon to-day by the president, Mr W. A. Swinbourn. Sir Robert Stout, he said, was a man who had made his mark in the country, rising to every position open to him. His passing would be greatly missed.
