LOYAL APITI LODGE, M.U. (From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, July 19. Tho usual fortnightly euchre party and dance was held by tho Oddfellows 1 Lodge during the week, there being a good attendance. Uhe prizes for tho euchre tournament (tho ladies’ had to bo played off) were won by Mrs McNae first and Mrs Jacobs second, and tho men’s by Mr R. Fowell first, and Mr M. Jacobs second. A lucky number prizo was won by Mrs Schmidt. A tasty supper was handed round by tho members of tho committee, after which dancing was indulged in for two hours. Mrs Fowell supplied tho music for the dancers. An announcement was made that tho lodge members intended holding an “old time dance’’ on Tuesday. HOCKEY, On Wednesday afternoon last the members of tho ladies’ hockey team journeyed to Feilding to try conclusions with the Kia Ora team. After a good game, tho local girls were delighted to return homo victorious, the score being 10—nil. The team this season includes a number of novices, and previously tho games have been disappointing to them. Miss Myrtle Cave, who received painful facial injuries whilo playing in last week’s match, is roported to bo recovering from the effects. GENERAL AND SOCIAL. The Apiti R.S.A. have fixed the date of Monday week for their euchre, bridgo and dance evening. The friends of Mrs Cummcrfield will regret to hear that she is at present confined to bed under medical instructions. Mrs D. Richards has been indisposed during tho week. Mrs J. Jensen has returned from a month’s holiday spent in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Richards, senr., and Miss V. Moore are on a visit here, staying with Mr and Mrs Richards.
