The first part of the report of the Simon Commission on Indian constitutional reform—Sir John Simon wns chairman—which will be published on June 10, is completed, and a large edition is being printed. It will be available simultaneously here and in India. A large supply will be sent to India within the next few days.

The second part of the report, setting out the commission’s recommendations, which aro reported to be unanimous, is also stated to be ready for printing. It will be published on June 24. The Secretary of State for India, Captain AVcdgwood Benn, will be asked in Parliament to-morrow to arrange for the publication of the reports at a price that will not bar their wide circulation. RAID ON SALT PANS. ARREST OF CONGRESS LEADERS. DELHI, May 17. A large number of Congress volunteers, who have been waiting for some time to raid tlio salt depot at Dharasna, near Bombay, eluded the police guards at noon yesterday and rushed toward tho salt pans. Nine volunteers were injured in the ensuing scufile. A batch of volunteers, commanded by Mrs Naidu, were removed bodily by the police after having lain on the road for twenty-eight hours. Following the bombing of certain villages on the Mohmand border by the Air Force and a round-up of agitators by troops and police, the situation on the north-west frontier is now reported to be improving. Revolutionary gangs known as “Redshirts” are showing considerable activity in cutting the barbed-wiro in front of British posts at night. Several Congress leaders have been arrested in Koha Baiinu and Thai.
