Mr J. O. Hanlon, lately of the Wanganui Chronicle, left last week on the Uiimaroa for Sydney, en route to England. Air Hanlon, who was accompanied by his wife, will take up a journalistic post in England. The friends of Air R. AlcA!anii6, of the literary staff of the “Evening Standard,” will regret to learn that he was taken ill suddenly on Saturday, and had to bo removed” to his home, where he is now progressing satisfactorily. Judge H. Carr, of the Native Land Court, Gisborne, and Mrs Carr arrived in Wellington on Saturday evening. They are to leave to-morrow for Ravatonga, where Judge Carr is to relieve Judge A.vson, while the latter is on extended holiday leave. Air Arthur S. Faire, manager of the Auckland branch of the Public Trust Office, has, with Airs Faire, been visiting friends in Palmerston North, where he formerly occupied ft similar position to that he now holds in Auckland. They returned north to-day. Rev. Bernard B. Hame.s, travelling secretary of the Afethodist Young Alen’s Bible Class Movement, is at present in Palmerston North. Air Haines is visiting classes throughout the Alanawatu, and during the week he will leave for the Hawke’s Bay district. Air J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the Auckland Transport Board, returned to Auckland on Friday by the steamer Port Huon, from Liverpool. Air and Airs Allum went suddenly to Halifax to see Air Jack Allum, their son, who was seriously ill. They took him to a London specialist. Air Jack Allum returned with his parents. Chosen from sixty-nine applicants, Air J. R. Veale has been appointed manager of the Oroua Downs Dairy Company, alter having held a similar position at the Tamakii Dairy Company’s Rua Roa factory for five years. Last year Mr Veale, who has always had his output highly graded, won the Grading Cup. Ho has been chairman of the Rua Roa School Committee for four years and, with Airs Voile, will be greatly missed in the district. Ho takes up his new duties on Juno 5.
