THEFT OF SUITCASES.
SIX MONTHS’ GAOL. Charges of stealing three suitcases on May 16 were admitted by a carpenter, William Henry Pearse, in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. The suitcases were the property of J Me. Carthy, N. McLennan and A. Williams, the values being down at £5, £2 and £1 10s respectively. Senior-Sergeant Whitehouse said that a taxi-driver had seen accused throw a suitcase over a fence and later go to the railway station. A search was made and it was found that two other suitcases were missing. His Worship imposed a sentence of six months’ imprisonment on the first charge, and three months on each of the other two charges, the terms to be concurrent.
