GUN CLUB SHOOT.
W. A. THOMPSON SUCCESSFUL. A trophy shoot, a ten bird handicap, for a prize donated by Messrs G. H. Fitt and C. McGrath, was held on Saturday by tire Palmerston North Gun Club. The weather conditions were not favourable, the light being dull, -with slight showers ut the commencement. Notwithstanding, the shooting was of a very fair order. The results were: B. K* Thompson (hep 17) 10, W. A. Thompson (15) 10, G. W. Beard (15) 10, H. Best (16) 9, W. J. Beard (14; 9, N. D. Stubbs (14) 9, H. Collinsofl (11) 8, Peter Median (19) 8, P. A. Meehan (15) 8, G. H. Fitt (11) 7. In the shoot off between W. A. Thompson, B. K. Thompson and G. W. Beard, W. A. Thompson was successful with G. TV. Beard second. Thompson won on the 20th bird, having broken 20 straight with the first barrel. This was followed by a 10 bird sweep which resulted in a tie between G. \V. Beard, H. Best and N. D. Stubbs, with the possible each, and they divided the prize money. In a dull light a further 10 bird sweep was held, the result being W. A. Thompson, H. Best, H. Colhnson, G. W. Beard each scoring the possiblo. On Saturday, 24th May, a teams match, Wanganui v. Palmerston North, will be fired for a cup donated by Mr Collinson.
