UNEMPLOYED RELIEF.
WORK IN DUNEDIN. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 16. In response to repeated representations by the Mayor, Mr R. S. Black, to' the Minister of Public Works in the matter of ivork for the relief of imemploviiient in Dunedin, which has reached an acute state, the Minister has hoiv replied that a subsidy of £1 for £1 up to £IOOO has been approved of on w’orks the Dunedin City Council proposes to undertake for the relief of returned soldiers. In addition, arrangements have been made for 125 men from Dunedin to be placed on Government relief lvorks near the city. The Minister of Internal Affairs has granted tho application of the Forbury Park Trotting Club for a special license to hold a tivo days’ totalisator meeting for the purpose of raising funds for unemployed relief. A meeting of the club will be held on Tuesday to select dates.
