CHARITIES TO BENEFIT.
CHRISTCHURCH WILL. Per. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 14. Some Christchurch charities will benefit to the extent of about £40,000 through the will of the late Mr George Mitchell, formerly of Christchurch, who died at Governor’s Bay on Anzac Day. Mr Mitchell was well known in Christchurch as a printers’ broker. He retired some years ago. The charitable bequests are subject to certain prior bequests and annuities. The estate on the death of the last annuitant will be divided into five parts. It is expected that the total then available for distribution will be about £40,000. Two of the five parts are to be paid to the Salvation Army to apply the income in assisting patients who have their first babies at the Salvation Army Maternity Home, Christchurch. The assistance is to be given when the patients leave the institution. Two parts are to be paid to the Canterbury Hospital Board to use the income in providing extra comforts for inmates of the Jubilee Home, Woolston. The other part goes to the trustees of the Presbyterian Girls’ Orphanage to assist girls leaving the institution to make their way in life.
