ACCUSED FOR SENTENCE.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 14. A young man named James Carruthers pleaded guilty in the Police Court to obtaining £9O from William Weine by false pretences. He paid ’£so down on a car and signed promissory notes to pay Inglis Bros, the balance at £7 9s 4d a month. After paving his board he had £1 15s a week left. He was put off employment on account of slackness, and he 6old the car to Weine for £9O, having altered one receipt from £7 9s 4d to £7O 9s 4d. Weine then had to pay the balance of £6O to Inglis Bros, or lose the car. Accusd was sent to the Supreme Court for sentence.
