POLAR EXPEDITION.
REQUEST FOR SUBMARINE. AVASHINGTON, May 12. Sir Hubert AVilkins, the famous Australian explorer, has made a written request to the Navy Department for the charter of the decommissioned submarine 0126. It is disclosed that the submersible, if made available, would be specially rebuilt and equipped with machinery to bore through ice, a balloon for air observance, and radio and television apparatus.
