LONDON SALES OPEN. ADVANCE ON MARCH RATES. STRONG. CONFIDENT SPIRIT. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.-—Copyright.) Received May 14, 10.25 a.m. LONDON, May 13. The wool sales opened to-day. There were 10,788 bales offered, including 3825 from New Zealand. Approximately 6647 bales were sold. There was a miscellaneous selection of Merinos, including many inferior, and a good average offering of New Zealand crossbreds. There was a crowded attendance, representing all centres, and a strong, confident spirit prevailed. _ There was extremely brisk competition, both on the part of Continental and Yorkshire buyers. Merino, greasy combing, met with a strong demand at ten per cent, above March closing rates; best scoureds, ten per cent.; faulties, five per cent.; all greasy crossbreds, fully ten per cent, up; scoureds. seven and a half to ten per cent. ; slipes, seven and a half; lambs, Merinos, five per cent, to seven and a half. New Zealand realisations: Greasy crossbreds, Bee, top price 113 d, average price lid; Omoko, 113 d, 10Jd; halfbred, Claxby, 12Jd, 12d.
