TANGIMOANA TOWNSHIP.

ROADING QUESTION. The question of the constructing of the road which runs from Tangimoana township to the beach came before the Manawatu County Council yesterday when letters from Hon. E. A. Ransom and Hon. J. G. Cobbe were placed before the. council by Mr J. Liuklater, M.P. The Minister of Public Works (Hon. E. A. Ransom) stated that inquiries had been made concerning the work and it had been found that there was a sum of £337 18s 6d available from the funds which had been provided for road in g~ with in the township area, but as the Public Works Department had been of the opinion that no further reading was necessary in Hie township, it had been suggested to the Department of Lands and Survey that this sum be diverted to the construction of the road mentioned. In reply, the Minister stated, the Lands Department had offered no objection to this being done provided the Manawatu County Council undertook to exempt the Government from any further liability in connection with township reading. Before, however, the work could be proceeded with tho road line would have to bo legalised and this was being done, hut m riie meantime it was suggested that the Manawatu County Council pass a. resolution agreeing to exempt the Government from any further liability in connection with the construction of roads in the township area if the suni of £338 was expended on the beach The council discussed the matter at some length and finally carried the following resolution on the motion ot Crs J H. Perrett and J. McKelvie: “That, provided the Government is prepared to construct and metal tlio road to the beach at Tangimoana from the present metalled portion of Punga Street, the council, with the sanction of the section holders isc prepared to release any money allocated for construction of roads in the Tangimoana township and extension as shown in plans 772 and 789.”
