Jackson, on behalf of the Tennis Club, also referred to Mr G. Duthie’s long service rendered to the club, he being one of their foremost players. He asked Mr and Mrs Duthio to accept from the club a handsome supper service as an expression of their best wishes. Both speakers wished them long life and happiness. A musical evening was spent and supper was provided. At the close of the evening Mr G. Beagley, porter in chargo at the railway station, left to-day for Dunedin on his annual holidays. A friendly shooting match took place at Awahuri on Friday evening between the Bunnythorpe and Awahuri Miniature Ride Clubs A and B teams, each club recording a win. A grade teams: Bunnythorpe, 1058 points; Awahuri, 1041 points; B grade teams; Awahuri, 724 points; Bunnythorpe, 673 points. The Anglican Church Ladies’ Guild held a most successful progressive euchre tournament during the week when there was a very largo attendance. Both grades of the football teams suffered defeat on Saturday which shows that more practical training will have to be carried out. Now that the club has obtained good lighting on the ground for evening practice, better results are to be expected.
