(From Our Own Correspondent). MARTON, May 10. The Rangitikei County Council made a grant of £lO to the Tadiapo mu6oum. For obtaining credit (tho price of a meal) by fraud, at Taihape, Francis McCluskey, aged 42, a labourer, was sentenced to 48 hours in goal. A concert was rendered by the pupils of St. Francis’s Convent School and proved to be very successful, tho songs and actions of the children reflecting much credit on their teachers, the Sisters of Mercy. The Rangitikei Rugby Union has decided to postpone the junior matches set down for May 21, the day of tho British team’s visit to Wanganui. A. G. Heibner, a player residing at Pukeroa, applied for and was refused ’ his clearance in order to play in the Taihape area. Tho names of Rev. P. 11. Leonard and A. Ilenwood, Rangitikei referees, have been submitted for tho British match. The Turakina Football Club was refused permission to enter tho Wanganui junior competitions. The Bailey Cup seven-aside tournament is to bo held at Bulls on the 24th inst. The Manawatu Union asked for a senior match at Feilding on August 16. Tho letter was held over. At the weekly euchre party held under the auspices of St. Francis’s Church, prizes were won by Airs Avery, Airs Amer and Mr A. Campbell, consolations going to Airs B. Holmes and Air J. Fitzgerald. Competitions were won by Mrs W. R. Oates, Mrs Holmes and Air S. Whitford. A meeting of persons interested in the New Zealand Alliance was held a few days ago, an address being given by Rev. W. J. Comrie. The meeting was not open to the Press. When working in a metal pit at Upper Tutaenui, Jack Ellery, a labourer, was caught under a fall of metal and sustained a fractured leg and other injuries. He was admitted to hospital. Tho la&t shipment of cheese from the Alarton dairy factory realised 84s per cwt. on the London market. The Rangitikei Hunt met at Bonny Glen on Wednesday and enjoyed a short run. Airs E. L. Briant entertained the followers at afternoon tea. The Junction School pupils held their annual concert on Thursday evening, over 200 parents and other adults attending. Close on 200 children participated and tho function was a success from beginning to end. The chairman of the committee, Air H. C. Gronn, thanked the patrons for their attendance. Air and Airs G. W. Alellor, of Upper llutt, are the guests of Mr and Mrs J. Maher, Ohingaiti. Airs A. M. Alercer, of Ohingaiti, is spending a holiday in Taranaki. Miss Elsa Rae, of Alasterton, is a visitor to Alarton. Rev. B. Ilames, secretary of the Alethodist Church Boys’ Bible Class movement in New Zealand, has been visiting Alarton. Air A. T. Gatrell (Marton) and Air J. Bull (Hunterville) are visitors to Hawera. Airs .S. A. R. Alair has returned to Hunterville from Marlon. Air T. H. AlcWilliams, who was tho radio operator of the monoplane, Southern Cross, now occupies the position of Rangitikei representative of an important oil coinpany.
