ASSAULT AND ROBBERY.
CASES AT DUNEDIN. BAG SNATCHERS ACTIVE. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 12. Late on Friday night a vanman was held up by two men on a hill beyond the suburb of Caversham, but managed to get away. Two men called at a lonely farmhouse on Pine Hill, where an old man lives alone. After enquiring their way they knocked him down and took about £4. The police inspector stated during the hearing of an idle and disorderly charge in the Court to-day that several cases of bag snatching and assault and robbery had been reported since the shortage of stored water at Waif>ori compelled the disuse of street ights at night.
