SMALL INCREASE.
NEW ZEALAND POPULATION. LESS THAN 18,000 IN TWELVE MONTHS. During the quarter ended March 31 the population of New Zealand, including its dependencies and the mandated territory, showed an increase of 3018 compared with an increase of 3702 during the corresponding quarter of the previous year. . The estimated population is now 1,548,654, comprising 791,155 males and 757,499 females. The estimated population of New Zealand proper, excluding' Maoris, is 1 421,597, and the estimated Maori population is 67,015. Following is a summary pf the official estimates of the Dominion’s population, including Maoris, but excluding the island dependencies, at March 31 of the iast 10 years, showing the increases from year to year.
