GAMING LAWS.
POLICE RAID AT GREYMOUTH. Per Press Association. GREYMOUTH, May 11. The police on Saturday afternoon raided two places in Greymouth. As a result, 20 persons were later charged with breaches of the gaming laws. Philip Stewart was charged witli keeping a common gaming-house. He was remanded on bail of £SO, unt.l May 19. James Heffernan, who was on tne same premises in Mawhera Quay, was charged with assisting in keeping a common gaming-house.. He was remanded until May 19, on bail of £25. Fifteen others arrested on the same premises were likewise remanded, on bail of £5 each, until May 19. Daniel McCarthy w.as charged with keeping a common gaming-house m Boundary Street and was remanded until May 19,, on bail of £SO. _ Two others who were arrested at his premises, one being a woman, were also charged and were romanded until May 19 on bail of £o each.
